Mystery of History

by Sherri
(Maryland)

Product: Mystery of History, Volumes 1-3
Subject: History
Levels Used: Volumes 1-3
Dates Used: 2005 - present

Likes: I love how MOH ties together Biblical and church history with what was going on in the rest of the world, especially in volume 1.

Kids don't always make the connection that the things they hear about from the Bible were happening at the same time as the pyramids were being built, China and Japan were doing great things, Alexander the Great was doing his conquering, etc. It's good to have God woven throughout the books.

Dislikes: No real dislikes. Just be aware that the length and depth of the lessons increases between the volumes. Volume 1 has lessons that are a page or two long. Volume 2 has lessons between 2 and 3 pages. Volume 3 has lessons much longer. Therefore, the detail in Volume 1 isn't as great, so with older kids you'll want to do some supplementing.

The author has provided a list of supplemental books, videos, and other things that could be useful. Also, the activities at the end of each lesson allow you to go a little deeper into the topic, especially with older students.
