Spelling Workout by Modern Curriculum Press is a sports-themed spelling program available for grades 1-6. Grade 1 corresponds to Level A of Spelling Workout.
36 weekly lessons are included in each of the levels. Each lesson begins with a short article about a high-interest topic. Games, riddles, and word-list exercises help reinforce the concepts between phonics and spelling. Warm-up tests are given at the beginning of each lesson and a final test at the end of each lesson. Review lessons are given after every fifth new lesson. Writing assignments and proofreading are used to reinforce spelling in the higher levels of this program.
A Teacher's Manual is available for this program, but may not be necessary for the younger levels.
