First Language Lessons is a scripted grammar and composition program for grades 1 through 4 developed by Susan Wise Bauer, author of The Well-Trained Mind.
Levels 1 and 2 cover 1st and 2nd grades, and consist of short, 5-15 minute memorization, grammar, copywork and narration exercises. Much of the work in this level of the program is completed orally.
Level 3 covers grades 2 through 4, and requires both the instructor's manual and a student workbook. It builds on the grammar concepts taught in previous levels, and also teaches dictation, sentence diagramming, and dictionary skills. Composition is also introduced at this level.
Lessons in all three levels are scripted, making instruction easy for parents.
