Here's a description of McRuffy Math from the company's website:

McRuffy Press products have been successfully used by homeschoolers, public schools, and private schools. It all began with a little dog named Ruff McRuffy who was the main character in several of the early reading books. Our first products were developed while Brian was teaching Kindergarten in 1991... Since that time we have added additional grade levels and subject areas.
