Wordsmith is a homeschool writing program that was written by a homeschool mom and accomplished writer. The program is written in a conversational manner, and contains exercises that even reluctant writers will find appealing.
Wordsmith Apprentice is for students in grades 4-6, or older reluctant writers. Students who use this program learn the fundamentals of writing while pretending to hold various roles on a newspaper staff.
Wordsmith is for students in grades 7-9, and begins with a review of grammar. Students then progress through step-by-step exercises that teach writing technique and steps of the writing process, including proofreading and revision. A teacher's guide for this program is also available, and contains tips for evaluating assignments, answers for exercises and quizzes, and 36 week, 4-day schedule.
Wordsmith Craftsman is self-directed program for students in 10th-12th grades. It focuses on everyday writing, language skills, and essay writing to prepare children for college.
