Homeschooling High School: Planning Ahead for College Admission, by Jeanne Gowen Dennis

Every home schooling parent with a college-bound child needs this book! I actually think that it would be a good idea to begin reading it when your child is in the 6th grade. I have been gleaning from this book for the past three years, but I wish I had started reading it sooner.

The author starts out honestly by listing the drawbacks of home schooling a high school student, but then goes on to give great suggestions for minimizing those drawbacks.

She approaches this topic as a Christian who understands the need for a student to be firmly grounded both spiritually and morally. She explains everything you would want to know about raising your student to succeed. She even answered some questions I would have forgotten to ask.

She lists samples of goals and then goes about showing you how to meet those goals. You will also find all sorts of templates for your use. She breaks down all the possible subjects and explains how to attack challenges in each one. She covers testing and college applications.

This book is thorough! She understands that I am a guidance counselor, record keeper and teacher; all those issues are covered. I reread this book every year. Good stuff!
