K12 Art

by Kathy
(Phoenix, AZ, USA)

Product: K12
Subject: Art
Levels Used: K through 4th
Dates Used: 2003 - 2007

Likes: Art closely follows the history lessons. This actually makes it more interesting and it reinforces the history. For the younger children it's mainly cutting, pasting, coloring, using clay, and painting. I believe it was in 4th grade that they make a vest our of burlap (sewing by hand). They also study art through popular artists. Everything is covered in all of the grades from a portrait and self-portrait, how to mix colors, landscapes, and still life.

Dislikes: My grandchildren noticed that each year the basics were covered. For instance, how to mix colors, what a landscape is, what a self-portrait is, etc. They did not like that part.
