Mudpies to Magnets

by Carletta
(McKinney, Texas)

Mudpies to Magnets is a book of activities that helps preschoolers explore science by doing and discovering.

It begins with teaching tips and a resource list, then provides suggested activities which are organized into the categories of health and nutrition, art, nature, movement, construction, group activities and science center activities.

Each activity is labeled with an appropriate age range, and gives a list of needed items, vocabulary terms, a description of the concept that will be demonstrated, simple activity instructions, and ideas for expanding the activity.

Unlike some programs, Mudpies to Magnets suggests activities that children are actually capable of doing themselves.

I reviewed this program at our local library. The only drawback I could see, is that the program could contain more description of scientific terms to serve as background information for parents.
