Quarter Mile Computer Program

by Sharon
(Leavenworth, Kansas)

Product: Quarter Mile computer program
Subject: Math
Levels Used: 1,2 and 3
Dates Used: 2004-2009

Likes: I don't own very much that can be used to help both my 8th grader and my 1st grader (I even used it for preschool). This has provided great skills practice for all my kids.

The child can choose between a car or horse to race against his own best time. The lowest level starts with keyboarding skills and even includes upper and lower case letter matching. The topic list is extensive. You first may choose from broad topics like numbers and letters or integers. Then you choose from another more specific list and yet one more super-refined list before you pick the concept for your child. I am not going to count each items on the five 2-column topic pages in the manual. There are hundreds of options. You will always be able to find just the area where your child needs practice.

I don't have to sit in front of the child and flip flash cards. They are playing a game on the computer and that makes it even more special. They like it when I cheer them on to victory. Each child can log in separately so that you can track their progress over time. They offer programs for windows or mac (mine is windows). You can buy the levels separately, but I bought the whole bundle to save money. It all came with just one CD for everything and a very helpful guide in a book-sized box for storage. It tucks away nicely without getting lost. This is a tremendous product!

Dislikes: It would have been nice if they sent the CD in a case of its own for protection; it arrived loose in the box.
