Rosetta Stone Curriculum ReviewRosetta Stone is a computer-based, language-instruction program that utilizes CD-ROM, along with by a workbook and quizzes. The company offers programs for languages as popular as French and Spanish, as well as those hard to find in other foreign language programs, such as Swahili. Rosetta Stone teaches through the immersion method; using images and word association. English is not used, and all lessons are learned by associating words from the language you are learning to pictures of known objects, people, or animals (such as a ball, a cat, or a girl). The company also offers speech recognition software which gives students feedback on correct pronunciation. The program can be used by students of all ages, from young elementary to adults. The software contains administrative tools that allow parents to track student progress. Homeschoolers can count each level of the program as 1 credit of high school foreign language if the workbooks and quizzes are used. to read reviews of this program.
