Saxon Math

by Heidi
(New York)

Product: Saxon Math
Subject: Math
Levels Used: Math 3, 54, 65, 76
Dates Used: 2007-current

Likes: Saxon math gives students lots of opportunity to practice what they have learned. It is a spiral approach. Each lesson will teach a new concept, have several problems to practice and a lesson practice of approximately 30 problems that will cover the current lesson and previous lessons. The lessons are easy to understand. Saxon math k-3 have scripted lessons. The upper levels are written to the student. My children have had no problem with the upper levels and I have seen an improvement in their math skills because of the repetition.

Dislikes: If we covered the lessons as directed it would take well over an hour to finish, which is way too much in my opinion. My children complete all of the lesson problems and then I assign half of the mixed practice problems.
