Seton Handwriting for Young Catholics

by Laura O
(North East, MD USA)

Product: Seton Handwriting for Young Catholics
Subject: penmenship
Levels Used: 2,4 and 5
Dates Used: August 2006 - May 2008

Likes: Each book starts with a refresher of what was previously learned. Also, my children liked having the copywork exercises be related to their faith. For 5th grade, the progression included information about each state as well as more about someone or something famous for each. My eldest would often come to share what he'd learned during his handwriting.

Dislikes: My biggest complaint is the binding of the texts. Tearing out the pages to complete was not an appealing option as bound paper is easier to keep under control than loose sheets. The pages are perforated for removal if your student has difficulty writing because of the binding. My second grader did not have problems as the pages were landscape format. But, for the 4th and 5th grade levels, I did hear complaints on a regular basis from my eldest child.
