Switched on Schoolhouse Curriculum

by Peggy
(Wilmington, NC)

Product: Switched on Schoolhouse Curriculum
Levels Used: Grades 3 and 4
Subjects Used: Bible, Math, Language Arts, Science, History
Dates Used: 2007-2008

I used SOS when I had to pull our older boys - then 4th grader and advanced 2nd grader out of public school. I needed a prepackaged curriculum that kept records for me and was visual and computer oriented.

Likes:

No grading - Switched on Schoolhouse curriculum graded the boys work automatically.

Read aloud - Installing a simple patch to Internet Explorer allowed the text to be read to my boys who learn better with audio and visual at the same time.

Well written - Though the text was dry at times it was very comprehensive.

Dislikes:

Answers had to be exact or they were marked wrong. This was difficult as I have three perfectionistic kids.

The program was too much like school at home.

I personally enjoyed the software and will try using Grade 3 with my youngest next year.
