The Ordinary Parent's Guide to Teaching Reading is an easy to use, phonics-based, systematic approach to teaching reading. The book was written for the average parent who has no educational training. It tells parents exactly what to do and say, and requires no advance planning. Simply open the book, turn to the current lesson and teach the child to read!
Lessons will take between 10 to 15 minutes to complete, and focus strictly on reading - no handwriting or spelling is presented. Children begin learning short vowel sounds while gradually progressing to the final lesson, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
The guide was written for students in K-3rd grade, but may also be used with older students who need remedial help. This program leaves the gimmicks and extras behind and focuses on one thing - teaching children to read.
