Likes: I absolutely love this program!

My 4 year old daughter has been eager to learn to read for a while, so I looked at many programs for her. Hooked on Phonics seemed too flashy and complicated, Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons had weird symbols and didn't directly teach the alphabet letters and their names, and so I turned to this book.

I LOVE IT! My daughter is doing GREAT with this book. We've completed through lesson 51 and she is reading very well and attempting to read EVERYTHING in sight!

I love how the instruction is written (to the parent and to the child). By the time a student finishes the program, they should be at a 4th grade reading level which is part of why I chose this program over others. It teaches phonics explicitly, which I think is great!

Dislikes:
I dislike that they encourage parents to buy flashcards (or make flashcards) and a magnetic board with letters. My DD doesn't need anything but the book! At first, we tried doing the program and writing the words on flashcards, but I realized that they were not necessary at all! Just the book is all we need! :)
