WinterPromise Adventures in the Sky and Sea

by Alisa W
(Ocala, FL)

Product: WinterPromise Adventures in the Sky and Sea
Subject: History and Science
Levels Used:Sky and Sea- recommended for grades 4-6
Dates Used:2007-2008 school year

Likes: I really liked the idea of combining my children into one program that combined the subjects of history and science for them.

This program was really good in tying together history and science and showing them how they can relate closely to one another. Often it was hard to tell where one stopped and the other started! For example, in the first half of the year, the history portion covers explorers as they sailed around the world (with fun sections on vikings and pirates, too!)and the science portion covers everything from ocean creatures to tides to navigation.

WinterPromise includes tons of crafts, activities, and web sites to visit to extend any topic that interests you.

Dislikes: I had a seventh grader that was also doing this program. We found that some of the books were way too easy for her, so we added in the Older Learner's Guide. That was quite a diappointment as those books were way over her head and the projects much more time consuming than we would have liked.

This is a very crafty program so only use it if you like hands-on activities!
