I do NOT recommend Apex

(Los angelos)

My teacher does not seem to even try while grading my assignments. One week I get really good grades, and the next I do exactly what it says and I don't receive the same quality grading. My overall grade does not reflect my test scores at all.

That being said the curriculum is absolute trash. I am bored out of my mind finishing up English 4 and not only is the work not really teaching anything, we barely are learning anything related to English. It is very repetitive and gives plenty of pointless busy work. I wouldn't mind the work if I felt I was learning but I am not and the curriculum is nothing short of garbage.

I was previously in a different online program a few years ago that was SOO much better. I cannot recommend Apex for anyone who wants to go through online schooling because you will most likely regret it. This is the only class I have ever taken with them and it has been the biggest waste of time throughout my current highschool career.

Wonderful Program

by CC

I love this program. I have taken AP Language and Composition, Science Foundations, Geometry, Biology, and Algebra I. They have all been successes and I have been very happy with all of them. I have had 8 teachers (including substitutes), and they are all understanding, knowledgeable about their area of expertise, and fabulous teachers. Only twice have I had quiz questions where I disagreed with the correct answer. I contacted my teacher and they swiftly aided me and explained why the correct answer was what it was (in one case), or contacted a support person to have the question changed (in another case). This is a great resource. The prices are quite reasonable compared with many other online schools, and the website is easily accessible. I plan to use Apex all through high school. I've been writing reviews on several websites because I have enjoyed this program and want other Homeschoolers to know about it.

Quality has Declined

Do not, whatever you do, go with Apex Learning. I started out with this program 4 years ago. My first year was fairly good and I had fine, though not fabulous teachers. I took Science Foundations and Algebra I.

After that, the classes began to go downhill. My grades did not suffer (all As), but I could actually feel the quality of the class begin to drop. Common Core was adopted, the teachers seemed to stop paying attention (I would go weeks without getting assignments returned), and there were all kinds of glitches, both with the software and with the corporation.

The most glaring of these was the recent mass-student email that was sent out, displaying every single student's email addresses. The next morning, there was a panicked email from Apex assuring everybody that they were safe and that nothing was going to happen. Imagine everybody's surprise (NOT) when a week later, two spam emails came into our inboxes from a student, yet again displaying the emails.

There is absolutely no reason to go with Apex Learning in this day and age. They are not cheap, their quality is awful, and they have some serious technical issues that need to be resolved ASAP (although maybe it's too late). There are many other wonderful, small, private online schools that don't have these kinds of issues.
