Apologia Elementary Science

by Carla
(Noblesville, IN, USA)

Product: Apologia Elementary Science
Subject: Science
Levels Used: K-3rd
Dates Used: 2007-2009

Likes: These creation-based science books have brought new life to our family's science studies. From someone who absolutely HATES science, I love these books! Each book has a theme: Astronomy, Botany, Zoology 1 (flying things), Zoology 2 (sea creatures), Zoology 3 (land animals) and the new book Anatomy.

From what we have done so far, the experiments are mostly using things you find around the house (or you can buy the kits). For younger children or larger families, the text can be read aloud with questions at the end of each section for discussion and comprehension and an experiment or project, sometimes two, in each chapter. It's easy enough to understand that my preschooler learned a lot from just listening and enough difficulty to challenge an older elementary student.

Notebooking journals can be used along with the books or not, depending on the child's level of interest and ability. The best part is that every chapter points to the Creator and God's word, refuting evolution with scientific facts.

Dislikes: It is difficult to find any used ones because most people want to keep them for reference books when they are finished.
