Apologia Young Explorers Series

by Rita
(Kansas City, MO)

Product: Exploring Creation with Botany and Flying Creatures of the 5th day.

Dates Used: 2008 and 2009

Likes: My girls are loving Flying Creatures. We really enjoy the hands on experiments. We currently have an ant farm in a jar, a mosquito pond in a jar and a pair of crickets (a boy and a girl) in a plastic box. Oh, and we are waiting for our second monarch to hatch.

Jeannie Fulbright is great about including hands on experiments to keep the youngsters interested and excited. My girls are always happy to go do science.

I like the extras online. There are a lot of great sites linked from the course webpage.

Dislikes: The botany course wasn't as big of a hit with the daughter I did it with. She was 9 at the time and just didn't care for botany. I really don't think it would have mattered which text we used for the subject, plants just aren't her thing! When picking a science curriculum, it is super important to make sure the child is interested in the subject.
