Hands of a Child Great for New or Experienced Lapbookers

by Amy
(Olathe, KS, USA)

Product: Hand of a Child Lapbook
Subject: Unit Study
Levels Used: Pre-K through Upper Elementary
Dates Used: Spring 2006 through present day

Likes: This was the product that introduced me, a new homeschooling mom, to the wonderful world of unit study! I love the selection of topics that range from literature and history units to science and just-for-fun.

The texts provide a good core knowledge of each topic but additional websites and book recommendations are included to extend learning. Units can be worked independently by the older child. Younger children will benefit from help with cutting the mini books and assembling them into the folder.

Everything you need to know is included in the lapbook instructions...so first timers have no fear! The usergroup and even the publishers are super friendly and, in my experience, have been readily available to answer questions.

HOAC units can also be used without completing the lapbook. A couple of titles have interested my daughter and we've skipped the lapbooking but explored the unit text, book suggestions and websites.

Dislikes: Printing the mini books on different colors of paper can be pretty labor intensive. (But, it's worth it!)
