Hands of a Child Mythological Creatures Project Pack

by Laura
(North East, MD, USA)

Product:Mythological Creatures Project Pack
Subject: multi-subject
Levels Used: 2nd and 5th grade
Dates Used: Spring 2008

Likes: Having a research guide made it easier to begin studying this topic. My boys really enjoyed learning more about some of the fantastical creatures they love from literature. We participated in the on-line Hands of a Child co-op for this pack, so the base unit was truly expanded.

Overall, I loved the ability to study a "non-traditional" topic that my children found interesting with all the basic prep work done for me. The color photos at the end with suggested booklet placement was helpful for me as well, although my eldest son likes to invent his own layout.

Dislikes: Adjusting the material down for my then 2nd grader was a challenge, but thankfully the upside for co-op participation included some of the booklets redone for younger students. Owning a Type It In format would have also resolved that difficulty. Also, the map for where dragons were located was a little small for younger students to neatly label.
