Learning Language Arts Through Literature was not really right for us

I tried Learning Language Arts Through Literature with my older child (several years back).

Things I liked:

Short, simple lessons
Easy to grab and use without a lot of prep time
Not too expensive

Things none of us liked:

We got frustrated with working with small bits of literature. I found it odd to be using excerpts. Our family has always read books in their original version, so that kind of through us.

We decided not to use LLATL because, although it had good lessons, it was mainly jut not our style.
