Not a Fan of Singapore Math

Product:Singapore Math
Subject:Math
Levels Used:1A 1B, 3A, 3B, 4A, 5A, 5B, 6A.
Dates Used: 2009-2010
Likes: It does challenge students.

Dislikes: Not enough review of concepts learned. It teaches a topic moves on to another and doesn't review that topic until many lessons later.

Review of the concept only shows up occasionally. I found that when the students got to a review they had forgotten what to do. Therefore, the teacher is burdened with finding extra problems to cement the concept in a child's mind. I personally don't have that kind of time.

I also think it is weak in its explanation of concepts. It is almost as if the students are supposed to intuitively figure out what to do. Which once again, makes it necessary for the teacher to figure out ways to get the idea across to the student. Yes, the guide does help but requires more time on the teacher's part.

I find the program too teacher intensive.
