Singapore Math

Singapore Math is a series of math programs based on Singapore's national curriculum standards for math. The program consists of Earlybird Math for kindergarten age students, Primary Math for grades one through six, and New Elementary Math years 1-4 to be used during the high school years. It tends to run approximately one grade level above most American math programs. Placement tests are highly recommended.

Each level of Primary Math consists of two textbooks and two workbooks. The workbooks are typically used as consumables and the texts as non-consumables.

The U.S. Edition of this program works on a slightly different scope and sequence than many American math programs. The California edition of Primary Math is aligned to the state of California's math standards.

This program emphasizes mental math and comprehension. There is little drill, and there are fewer problems per page in both the texts and the workbooks than in many other programs. Some parents to choose to supplement this with other drill programs and more practice for their students; however Singapore Math is a complete program and not all educators find it necessary to supplement.
