Saxon Phonics Curriculum Review

Saxon Phonics for grades K through 2 uses an incremental approach to reading instruction. Information is taught in small increments, then continuously reviewed throughout the program so that students will master the material thoroughly.

The program is based on the Orton-Gillingham method of phonics and reading instruction. Diacritical marks, similar to those used in dictionaries, are used to teach phonics, and phonics rules, spelling and handwriting are taught throughout all three levels of the program.

Muti-sensory methods, such as oral activities, letter tiles, physical movement and games make this program appealing to students of various learning styles.
