Horizons Curriculum Review

Horizons Math is a math curriculum for grades K through 6. Each grade level consists of a teacher's guide and two consumable student workbooks. Workbooks are printed in full color.

The program is spiral; each concept is taught and reviewed continually, allowing a student to be introduced to a topic, have it reinforced, and finally, master it. Each lesson focuses on multiple topics rather than focusing on one skill. The program emphasizes manipulatives, drill, and memorization.

Horizons Math is fast-paced and typically introduced topics earlier than other math programs. The teacher's guides include lesson schedules and objectives, as well as reproducible worksheets to reinforce concepts. This is not a self-teaching program; lessons are included in the teacher's instruction guide and the student workbooks reinforce concepts taught in the daily lessons.
