Math U See Curriculum Review

Math U See is a a comprehensive math curriculum that spans the levels from introductory math to Pre-Calculus. It is a manipulative-based program through Algebra 1 and works well for students who require interactive learning to cement concepts. Steve Demme, the author of this program, focuses on mathematical understanding through the memorization of basic facts and formulas, as well as the application of mathematical principles.

Most levels of the program are named according to a letter of the Greek alphabet—Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and so on. Before these levels, there is a Primer level available, and after finishing Zeta, a student may go on to higher math such as Algebra, Geometry, and PreCalculus. Demme also has a Christian financial stewardship course available.

Math U See combines systematic review with hands-on manipulatives to reinforce concepts. Interlocking Base 10 blocks, fraction overlays, and algebra/decimal inserts comprise the manipulatives used for teaching. The program is comprised of student text and test booklets, instructional DVD's meant to show the educator how to teach the material (but often used by the students to self-teach), and teacher's manuals.
